| NOTE CHANGE OF LOCATION: THIS EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE AT UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF HOBOKEN, AND NOT AT STEVENS INSTITUTE AS PREVIOUSLY INDICATED
United Synagogue of Hoboken presents this award-winning film about an Ethiopian boy, set in 1984 during the evacuation of many of Ethiopia's Jews to Israel. More details to be posted at www.HobokenSynagogue.org. A special speaker will join us for the screening of "Live and Become," the first film of our Winter Culture Series, this Saturday evening January 12, at 7:30 PM, in the synagogue social hall.
"Live and Become" is a powerful drama about the evacuation of Ethiopians from a Sudanese refugee camp to Israel, and the struggles that they encounter there.
Our speaker, Beejhy Barhany, who was born in Ethiopia, and at age four left for Israel, will comment on the movie, the history it portrays, and its themes of racism and reconciliation.
This award winning film also will be accompanied by award winning noshes. Plan to be part of this thought-provoking and enjoyable evening.
If you haven't yet purchased tickets for this first film, or for any of the films and brunch lectures that make up our Winter Culture Series, there is still time. Either mail back your ticket order, call the office, or email
