| We will have a special guest speaker on Saturday, July 24 during Shabbat morning services: Rabbi Valerie Stessin.
Rabbi Valerie Stessin is a Masorti (Conservative) rabbi visiting from Israel. In 1993, she became the first woman to be ordained as a Masorti rabbi in Israel.
Originally from France, Rabbi Stessin has played various leadership roles in the Masorti community in Israel, including leading the Tali Educational Fund, which provides a pluralistic Jewish studies program in Israeli public schools. She is now a leader in the field of Jewish pastoral care, which is very new in Israel.
Rabbi Stessin will speak about her experiences as a Masorti rabbi in Israel, interacting with Israel's entire religious spectrum. She will speak at approximately 11:30am on Saturday, July 24. We hope you will have the chance to meet her! |
