Welcome E-mail

Dear Friends:

Welcome to the HudsonJewish February newsletter. This month brings lots of great events and programs across the County, some familiar and some new innovative ones as well. One of the most important new happenings in our area is the formation of the Hudson County Regional Council, a partnership between Hudson County Jewish leadership and residents and the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey. This partnership has come about after many discussions, meetings, sharing of ideas, and community involvement. We hope that it will grow to support much needed programs and events in Hudson County, provide professional organizational help with services for our residents, and assist in generating funds for both our community and Israel. We thank the Federation, especially Kim Schwartzman (Moishe House resident and Manager, Outreach and Engagement for JFNNJ), Julie Lipsett-Singer (Chief Development Officer, JFNNJ), and Lisa Harris Glass (Chief Planning Officer, JFNNJ) for all of their support and guidance during this process. For more information, please read the article below.

Mark your calendars now for the Hudson County Regional Council's Inaugural Event, scheduled for Saturday evening March 18th in Jersey City (location TBA). So put the date on your social calendars, line up your babysitters, and make plans to come out with your friends for a fun-filled social evening of noshing and schmoozing. This will be an adult-only event, with an opportunity to meet other Jewish residents of Hudson County, as well as the members of the newly formed Regional Council and JFNNJ.

Until then, be sure to check out some of the great offerings this month, such as; Explore Judaism Course at USH (Thursdays for 5 weeks starting Feb. 2), Rooftop Schmooze with Marina Furman "How to Take Down an Empire" with Mesorah NJ (Feb. 2), First Friday Potluck & Service at Temple Beth-El (Feb. 3), Movie Night Hollywood! at CBJ (Feb. 4), World Wide Wrap XVII at CBIOTP (Feb. 5), PJ Library Baby Meetup (Feb. 7), "Fralentines" Shabbat Dinner with Moishe House (Feb. 10), Spin 4 Sharsheret (Feb. 12), 8th Day Concert at Yeshivat Netivot Montessori (Feb. 19), Shabbat Shira Children's Program with KPS (Feb. 25), Brunch with Author Rita Gabis at USH (Feb. 26), and Adult Education at Temple Beth Am (Tuesdays each week).

Don't forget, next month is Purim (begins at sunset on Saturday March 11 through nightfall on March 12) with graggers, costumes, & hamentaschen galore! Check out a taste of some of the upcoming events on the calendar.
