Dear Friends:

I am writing to you on a 68 degree day in late February. Who would have thought during the recent snowstorm that we would be enjoying such glorious weather just a few weeks later? The sunshine and outdoor time remind me that Purim is coming up very soon (beginning sunset March 11 through nightfall March 12). Purim is one of my personal all-time favorite holidays, with fun costumes, elaborate Mishloach Manot, the reading of the story of Esther & Mordechai, and of course all flavors of Hamentaschen to eat. I'm excited to let you know about all of the community events that are being held this month, so please check out our Events Section for listings on the various fun programs and services for children, grownups, families, and young adults that you can choose from.

I'd like to personally invite each of you to join me at Hudson County Night Out, the Inaugural Opening Event of the newly formed Hudson County Regional Council, a partnership between Hudson County Jewish leadership and residents and the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey. As you may know from reading the article in last month's newsletter, this partnership is a collaboration between the JFNNJ and various Rabbis, synagogue leadership, community leaders, and lay persons who are involved in the Hudson County Jewish Community, and we are really looking forward to the many exciting things to come from this partnership. The adults-only Hudson County Night Out will be held on Saturday Evening, March 18th from 8:30-10:30pm at a wonderful space in Jersey City, and will include dessert and drinks. It's a special opportunity to meet other Jewish residents of Hudson County, members of the newly formed Regional Council (see article below for the names of the Council Members), top leadership of JFNNJ, local political officials, and hear some of the exciting plans for this partnership. This event has no charge, but does require an RSVP, so please reserve online in advance at . I look forward to seeing many of you there!

Finally, don't don't miss all of the great happenings around our County this month (Purim and beyond), including: Shabbat Across America Dinner & Service with Temple Emanu-El & Cong. Oheb Zedek (March 3), USH Annual Casino Night (March 4), PJ Library Baby Meetup (March 7), PurimShabbatHamentaschen for Young Professionals (March 10), Purim Weekend Spectacular at CBIOP (March 11-March 12), Purim Tot Shabbat at Temple Beth-El (March 11), Purim Wondergy Laser Show at Temple Emanu-El (March 11), Shabbat Services & Megillah Reading at TBA (March 11), Purim Party & Megillah Reading at CMS (March 12), Purim Beatles Style at Temple Beth-El (March 12), Toddler & Preschool Purim Celebration at USH (March 12), Hudson County Night Out (March 18), and Opera Theater of Montclair at Temple Emanu-El (March 26).

So, don't forget to don your most creative costumes, gather your graggers, and celebrate Purim this month at the various events/programs county-wide.
