At the invitation of Rabbi Robert Scheinberg, approximately thirty people from all over Hudson County attended the initial discussion of a possible Jewish day school on October 18 at United Synagogue of Hoboken. Although opinions varied as to specifics, all agreed that a Jewish day school would provide an important educational alternative for parents and benefit the community as a whole. A dedicated working group of 15 people is now exploring three aspects of the question: - Educational Vision - Chairperson Heather Brown - Finance – Chairperson Seth Brown - Marketing – Chairpeople Shana Lee and Ariana Blum Raylie Dunkel, of Congregation B’nai Jacob, is facilitating the exploratory discussion. Please alert any families who should know about this important initiative, which seeks to meet a real gap in local options for elementary education. Families with toddlers should be especially interested, as their children will likely start kindergarten or 1st grade just as the effort comes to fruition. Documents and resources are available on the HudsonJewish Bulletin Board. (Click on navigation bar at left). |
